(EE)CS Undergraduate Survey Results

3 May

I just looked through the results from the (EE)CS undergraduate survey (https://hkn.eecs.berkeley.edu/~eunjian/Faculty%20Retreat%202012/Survey%20Summary.pdf), and one part of the results really caught my attention.
Three questions on the survey asked:
- 59. Have you ever experienced depression while in college?
- 60. Has someone you know in EECS/CS experienced depression?
- 61. If answered yes to either of the previous questions and you feel comfortable, please comment on your friend’s or on your depression.

I read all the results for question 61 (starts from page 157), and it made my heart feel very heavy. I can relate to majority of the comments left by students; some people took the words straight out of my mouth. Although knowing that I am not alone in my struggles with EECS comforts me, it also saddens me that so many people are on the same boat. I really wish I can help everyone, but I don’t know where exactly to start… Now that I am done with my Senate term, I will be able to narrow my focus and attention to the EECS community… and I will figure something out!!

And this will be my last entry ever on this blog. I think.
Good bye! Thanks for reading!

Thank you

3 May

The last Senate meeting for the 2011-2012 school year adjourned at 4am today (whooo 9 hour meeting).

I just wanted to thank everyone–from fellow senators to friends–for everything… from teaching me more about an issue to delivering food when I was starving.

I want to continue serving my peers, so pleaseeeeeeeee let me know if you ever need anything. I will either do my best to serve you or connect you to senators who will have resources that I no longer have now.

Thanks once again!

3 more weeks

16 Apr

3 more weeks of Senate meetings before I’m pretty much done!!
Please please please let me know if there is anything I can do for you or for your student organization before my term ends! I’m really going to miss the ability to help my friends through writing Senate bills or using other resources that I had access to as a Senator. I really want to do as much as possible in the next three weeks to help you. Let me know!
